Oak & Ember creates memorable community experiences and mobilizes a trusted network of businesses and leaders to provide funding, visibility and practical support for nonprofits serving the Triangle.

Many people and businesses want to give back but do not always know which local organizations to support or how to make their involvement useful. Oak & Ember helps close that gap. We identify strong nonprofit partners, create engaging ways for the community to participate and connect those organizations with people who can contribute money, time, expertise and relationships.

Our nonprofit partners address different needs, but each is doing practical work that strengthens people and communities close to home. In 2026, Oak & Ember is supporting Band Together NC, Journeymen Triangle, Able to Serve and The Invictus Project.
Family Fun Day RETURNS Oct. 3
Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026 | 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. | Phillips Farms of Cary
Bring the family to Phillips Farms of Cary for a full day of live music, farm fun, crafts, animals, a foam party and North Carolina's Biggest Water Fight. Proceeds help Oak & Ember support its 2026 nonprofit partners.
A small act of kindness showed what people can do together
Our Story
Oak & Ember began with a moment outside a children's hospital. A coordinated show of support gave young patients and their families a welcome reason to smile during a difficult night. Founder Mike Kodweis came home convinced that meaningful help does not always require a large institution or a personal connection to the cause. Sometimes it begins when someone asks, 'What can we do?'
